Life at Cherokee Cottage....
George and Jennifer Davis are the house parents of Cherokee Cottage. George and Jennifer are native to Northeastern Oklahoma. The Davis Family has been serving the Oaks since August, 2010. George and Jennifer have been married for thirteen years and have three girls. They currently care for the younger girls at the Mission and have up to ten girls in their cottage. Cherokee Cottage originally started as a second older girl's cottage but has slowly transitioned as a “tween” cottage, housing girls from ages 7-15. They are very proud of their cottage and are usually willing to have guests drop in unexpectedly. The girls and Jennifer have done a lot of decorating in the cottage including a completely redecorated hall bathroom sporting animal print. Jennifer previously worked at the Salvation Army and loves to shop at thrift shops and flea markets. She teaches the girls valuable lessons for decorating on a budget. Before coming to the Mission, Jennifer worked in the residential setting at Eagle Creek, a therapeutic program for adolescent males. The Davis' remarked, "House parenting at the Mission was somewhat a new job field for us, but we have found over time we have been able to impact and make a difference in many young people’s lives”. Cherokee Cottage is a loving and active home with never a dull moment. George and Jennifer are very proud of all of the girls and the home they are providing at Cherokee Cottage.
