The Ward Family
Travis and Deana Ward are the house parents of Vammen Cottage. Vammen Cottage was officially made a dorm for children in 1998 and is currently a dormitory for teen girls. The Wards were married on June 8, 2001 and have two sons. Both are longtime residents of Northeast Oklahoma. When given the opportunity to give back to their Native Community, in December of 2008, they knew where God wanted them to be. They strive each day to continue to show God’s love to each other and their Oaks family. Everyone at Vammen Cottage is very active in school activities and ballgames and they all strive to do the best they can. From doctor appointments to checking on grades to ballgames Deana and Travis reinforce their love and care for the girls and push them to become responsible young adults. With time, Travis and Deana have learned to create healthy boundaries with the girls and leave them in God’s hands. The most cherished memories for both of them is when one of the girls was baptized. Travis and Deana are members of the Ebenezer Lutheran Church in the Oaks and attend church weekly with the girls. Travis and Deana both share a goal of helping each girl break the cycle from their past and to have hope about their future.
